Why Klipsch you ask? Let Ron explain
We at Ask the Advisors have been a Klipsch dealer now for about 7 years. Why Klipsch you ask, let our retail manager Ron Lennox explain.
Klipsch is an American company with a very long and distinguished heritage in the A/V Industry. Klipsch was founded by Paul W. Klipsch in 1946 in Hope, Arkansas, with a single purpose; to develop great sounding speakers. You see at that time a big amplifier had about 3 watts and that does not make driving a speaker very easy. Paul developed his first speaker using Horn Drivers that was not only incredibly efficient so the 3 watts was enough to play it very loudly; it also set new standards for sound quality and detail retrieval. This speaker called the Klipschorn was a milestone in speaker design and believe it or not the Klipschorn is still available from Klipsch today some 63 years later.
Paul was an avid designer and engineer and holds a huge number of patents in speaker and driver technology and design.
Paul was also the father of multi-channel music. Way back in the 50′s he designed a 3 channel stereo system that according to him and all those who have ever experienced it; greatly improved the sense of width and the location of singers and instruments in the listening environment. This involved putting a 3rd speaker directly between the left and right speakers and wiring it in a particular fashion to create a center imaging speaker. This concept was widely shunned by other speaker designers and manufacturers at the time, but as time has shown it was and still is a great idea.
Today Klipsch makes a very wide range of speakers all with the same design concepts that Paul started with to deliver great music and film experiences.
All Klipsch speakers employ Horn Assisted Drivers and all are still extremely efficient and easy to drive. This means your amplifier will be happy and work less; equaling great sound. How big a deal is efficiency? A Klipsch speaker will typically play about 97db with a single watt of amplifier power; most other brands of speakers with an efficiency rating of 91db would need about 64 watts of amplifier power to play at the same level. So with Klipsch you get great sound, great dynamic range and you need less amplifier power needed to make it all happen.
In the last few years the engineers at Klipsch have dedicated themselves to creating a truly amazing sounding speaker; that still has all of the trademarks of a true Klipsch design.
This has lead to the Palladium series. A line of speakers that are absolutely state of the art in performance, gorgeous to look at, and are of course Horn loaded designs with incredible efficiency. So whether your budget is 359.00 for a pair of speakers or over 45,000.00 for an un-believable Surround Sound System there is a Klipsch to meet your needs.
