AIM Fields No.61

Come spend some time at Ask the Advisors on Tuesday October 8th.

We have the honor of displaying the actual AIM fields No. 61 Ford Riley Daytona Prototype Racecar that will be in the Rolex Grand Am series with lead driver Mark Wilkins in Homestead, Florida in a two weeks.

The race series features purpose-built racecars in the Daytona Prototype class and race modified street cars in the GT class. The history of the car is well documented. It is from constructor Riley Technologies and is chassis number 001. This particular car won the series championship in 2004.

Implementing upgrades to the car and switching to Ford engines would prove to be key factors in a racing season that would see the team gain experience and earn respect in the paddock. The team earned its first pole and would lead that race in commanding fashion showing they had truly arrived at the pinnacle of the sport. Over the next four races, AIM Autosport and the No. 61 Ford Riley would show dominance and record its first race win at the team’s home race in Montreal, Quebec. They followed up with a flag-to-flag victory just one week later at Watkins Glen, New York and went on to record their third straight podium just weeks later in Sonama, California.

AIM Autosport ended the 2008 season fifth in the series championship with two wins, one third and three poles. The team also led eleven of fourteen races. AIM Autosport’s win at Montreal the closest race in series histroy, was selected by race fans as “Moment of The Year”.
