Some sports fans visit hallowed places like Cooperstown, NY, or Canton, OH, for a dose of nostalgia and memorabilia. This Palm Beach County, FL, homeowner visits his garage. At least it used to be a garage. Now it’s a shrine to his alma mater, the University of Florida, and its ultrasuccessful athletic program.

Home Theater: The Next Generation
This theater is very real-and very cool. Its anonymous owners had originally envisioned a traditional home theater. However, when Jay Miller, president of Acoustic Innovations, noticed that the client was a collector of “vintage” video games, an idea was born. “It adds a lot to the experience, because you are introduced to the theme when you enter the bar and ready-room area,” says Jeff Hoover, president of Audio Advisors. “It sets the mood that something cool, fun and exciting is about to happen.”

Back when Jeff Hoover was class president at Forest Hill High School, he was better known as the nut with the big car stereo. He’d swing through the parking lot of Forest Hill High in his hand-me-down red 1970 Ford Galaxie 500, blaring My Sharona at face-melting volume in a bid to impress his future wife, the homecoming queen. After graduation, he worked as a store manager at Cushman Fruit Co., but he also installed stereos and eight-track players in cars until he could make it his day job.

Less than nine seconds after the tree lit green – 8.88, to be exact – Edmondson crossed the quarter-mile point, marking a milestone for a street legal V-Rod and eclipsing previous records that the team had set. Diener, along with team members and team owner Jeff Hoover, joined the dozens of V-Rod owners in attendance in a boisterous celebration that only a sub-9-second V-Rod run can invoke.

While an increasing number of electronic devices undergo technologic enhancements and are integrated into ever more complex home systems, the touchscreen remains the gatekeeper, controlling and keeping lights, A/V equipment, and security systems in order.

The small field of racers in the Yamaha Hot Rod Cruiser class presented by Star Motorcycles at Indy did not lessen the appeal nor the intensity of competition. With Patrick Racing’s Jeremy English sidelined from a streetbike incident, young Toby McWaters partnered with his father Rick in their attempt to reclaim the Patrick team’s dominance of the class. Badrod Racing’s Ryan Edmondson and Tilley H-D’s Super Dave Stewart had their own agenda aboard their Harley-Davidson V-rods, and they didn’t plan on battling a Warrior in the finals at Indy.
