A blog about blogging…as it were.

Because of the Holidays and how crazy busy we get around here that time of year we have had no real additions to our blogs for a couple of months now.
Quite surprising to us all is the number of people that have written us and asked us to get going again. It seems that there are a good number of people that actually read and enjoy what we write.
Heck there were even a few people that admitted they learned a few things from us! I cannot tell you how surprised and happy I …

Home Theater Speaker Systems…Hopefully De-Mystified

So you are ready to shop for a Home Theater speaker system and you have some questions; probably a lot of them. Hopefully the following information will help.

First, be sure and print out all of the spec sheets on all of the speakers you are thinking of buying. These will make wonderful lining for your birdcage, or make it easy to find packing material the next time you need to ship something fragile someplace. Introducing our newest vendor: Sonos Multiroom Music System

So I got the chance to take a Sonos  multiroom music system home with me last week. I decided to run the full gamut and tried the ZP90, ZP120, and even the new S5. Control was handled by a single CR200 and my trusty iPhone. I got tired of hearing how good it was and I totally expected it to suck, but I didn’t want to bash it without firsthand knowledge.
So I brought the system home and unpacked the “Bundle 250” and got started. The first thing I did, and I recommend you do the same, …

4 Different ways to get surround sound in your home.

1.) The Soundbar
This is probably the fastest and easiest way to add a surround sound-ish system to your home. Why do I say surround sound-ish? Well because a sound bar does not actually have side or rear speakers, so it is surround-ish. While some units like the Yamaha DSP series attempt to create the sound of additional speakers; they cannot be completely convincing. Other units like the B&W Panorama are designed to provide very good sound quality but really only posses a Left, Center, Right type of configuration; there is no …

Satellite Radio For the Car

Satellite Radio For the Car – Your last option can be Better!
Since I run into this more frequently these days, I figured it might be a good thing to clear the air over what makes a good versus crappy RF Modulated Satellite Radio kit for your car.
If you’ve decided to get Satellite radio for your ride (either Sirius or XM) there are three ways you can have it in your vehicle. Your car offers this option as an add-on, you can select an after-market radio and add it there- or your last option would be to …

aa-swirl&w=150&h=150&zc=1&q=100

At its most basic level, you could say that the Audio / Video industry was founded by a group of people who truly loved music.

Good music was the first killer application that consumers were willing to spend big money on. Brand loyalties were deep rooted and names like McIntosh, Marantz, B&W (Bowers and Wilkins) and Klipsch were created by music fanatics because what was available to buy was just not good enough for them; and they proudly put their names on the products they developed. Audiophiles were an established market niche long before custom …
